BREAKING:

HARARE — Zimbabwean digital music platform SoundCode263 has officially launched its online music store, making the service available to users through its website and Android application.

The company announced the launch on June 25, 2026, saying the platform had been developed over a period of ten years with the goal of supporting artists and improving music distribution in the digital age.

In a statement, the SoundCode263 team said the project was created to address two major challenges facing the music industry. These include improving access to music for fans at affordable prices and helping artists combat piracy and copyright infringements.

The company said it aims to contribute to a more sustainable music business environment by giving musicians greater control over how their content is distributed and sold.

According to the statement, SoundCode263 offers several features designed to benefit both artists and listeners. These include direct music sales, lifetime ownership for fans, artist-focused revenue sharing, anti-piracy protection and multiple payment options for local and international users.

The platform also includes a dedicated dashboard that allows musicians to monitor their earnings. SoundCode263 said the system promotes transparency by providing artists with a clear view of their income while encouraging tax-compliant revenue generation.

The company said it is committed to supporting authentic artistic expression and does not currently accept music that is fully generated by artificial intelligence.

In its statement, SoundCode263 said the decision was intended to preserve the identity of Zimbabwean music and encourage original human creativity.

The company encouraged musicians across the country to upload their digital catalogues to the platform and urged music fans to support local talent through legal purchases.

SoundCode263 also appealed to artists, recording studios and record labels that own rights to classic Zimbabwean music to consider distributing their catalogues through the platform. The company said this would help preserve Zimbabwe’s musical heritage and make it accessible to audiences around the world.

While the platform is currently available on web and Android devices, SoundCode263 said an iOS application is expected to be introduced at a later stage.

The launch comes as Zimbabwe’s music industry continues to embrace digital platforms as artists seek new ways to distribute content, protect intellectual property and generate income from their work.
