Zimbabwean politician and activist Linda Tsungirirai Masarira has died, according to reports confirmed by family members on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

Initial reports indicate that family members confirmed her passing to local media, although the cause of death has not yet been made public. Tributes have already begun pouring in from political figures, supporters, and ordinary Zimbabweans across social media platforms.
Over the years, Masarira became one of Zimbabwe’s most recognisable female political voices. She previously served as an MDC-T spokesperson before founding LEAD in 2019, where she later assumed the role of party president.
Beyond politics, she was also known for her activism on gender equality, workers’ rights, and social justice issues. Her political journey included arrests, court battles, and vocal criticism of both government and opposition structures, making her a polarising but influential figure in Zimbabwean public life.
More details surrounding her death are expected to emerge as official statements from family and party representatives are released.
