Sonja Chivhayo has filed court documents outlining claims for asset division and maintenance in her divorce case with Wicknell Chivhayo. The filings include a list of vehicles, properties, and financial support requests. The case is ongoing, with further court proceedings expected.
Court documents filed in the ongoing divorce case between Sonja Chivhayo and businessman Wicknell Chivhayo outline claims for asset division, maintenance, and property ownership. The filings set out the plaintiff’s position on the breakdown of the marriage and the distribution of jointly acquired assets.
In the documents, Sonja states that key elements of the marriage, including companionship, love, affection, and mutual support, no longer exist. She argues that the relationship has irretrievably broken down and that the marriage should be dissolved in line with the law governing matrimonial causes.

The filing references provisions under the Matrimonial Causes Act, stating that the law allows for the division and distribution of assets following the dissolution of a marriage. Sonja is seeking a court order to determine how assets accumulated during the marriage should be shared between the parties.
According to the documents, the plaintiff claims that the couple acquired substantial movable and immovable assets during the course of their marriage. These assets, she argues, should form part of the matrimonial estate and be considered in the division process.
The court papers list several high-value motor vehicles said to have been acquired during the marriage. These include a Mercedes Benz GLS, a Lamborghini Urus, a Range Rover Sport, multiple Mercedes Benz G Wagons, a Rolls Royce Spectre, Rolls Royce Ghost, Rolls Royce Phantom, a Mercedes Benz Maybach, and a Lexus SUV.
In addition to vehicles, the plaintiff is seeking ownership of several properties. The listed properties include a stand in Gletwyn Township in Harare, a unit at Rikitayi Villas in Ballantyne Park, and apartments in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa. The filing requests that these properties be awarded solely to the plaintiff.
The documents further address financial maintenance. Sonja is seeking spousal maintenance of US$40,000 per month, to be paid until she remarries. She also requests that the defendant cover maintenance costs for her vehicle twice a year.
In addition, the plaintiff is requesting a once-off lump sum maintenance payment of US$25 million. The documents state that this claim is based on the lifestyle she and the children were accustomed to during the marriage.
The filing also outlines provisions for the welfare of the couple’s children. Sonja is requesting that the defendant continue to pay for food, groceries, and clothing for the children in line with their previous standard of living. She is also seeking an annual amount of US$1 million to cover holidays, recreational activities, and other related expenses.
The documents further seek an order regarding assets held under the WMC Family Trust or any other trust linked to the defendant. The plaintiff argues that such assets should be considered part of the matrimonial estate or attributed to the defendant when determining the division of property.
The court papers indicate that the plaintiff is also seeking costs of the suit on an attorney and client scale. The filing was dated January 8, 2026, and submitted through her legal representatives, Mahuni Gidiri Law Chambers, based in Harare.
The case remains before the courts, and further proceedings are expected as the matter progresses. The filings provide a detailed account of the claims being made by the plaintiff as part of the divorce process.
