Following the altercation, Tariro fled from her home and sought refuge at the residence of Prosper Tenga. Reports indicate that she approached Tenga’s house in Epworth in an effort to escape the situation and find safety.
Tafadzwa is said to have followed his wife to Tenga’s residence shortly after she arrived. Upon reaching the house, a discussion reportedly began between Tafadzwa, Tenga, and a neighbour, with the aim of resolving the dispute between the couple.
However, the situation did not de-escalate as intended. Instead, a separate disagreement arose between Prosper Tenga and Tafadzwa Magwidi during the attempted mediation. The reason for this disagreement has not been disclosed.
Police allege that during the confrontation, Tenga struck Tafadzwa once on the head using an axe handle. The blow reportedly caused Tafadzwa to fall and sustain a deep cut on the right side of his head.
After the incident, Tafadzwa reportedly left the house while bleeding and boarded a commuter omnibus that was heading toward the ZRP Epworth. It is understood that he intended to seek assistance or report the matter.
During the journey, Tafadzwa collapsed inside the vehicle. The circumstances surrounding his collapse have not been further detailed, but it was confirmed that he later died following the injury he had sustained.
Following the incident, Prosper Tenga was arrested by police. The case has been officially recorded at Epworth Police Station under reference number RRB 6768126. Authorities have not released further details regarding court proceedings or additional charges.
The incident highlights how disputes, even those involving attempts to assist, can escalate into serious outcomes. Police investigations into the matter are ongoing as authorities work to establish the full sequence of events.
