A CBZ Bank branch in Murewa, Mashonaland East, was hit by armed criminals in the early hours of Tuesday.

Police sources say the gang got away with about US$30,000 and ZiG$15,000 after blowing up the bank’s ATM.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has not yet issued an official statement on the robbery.

ZBC News reports that the attack happened just after 2am.

According to details gathered, five suspects were involved. Two of them reportedly assaulted a security guard at the CBZ branch, while the other three moved to other nearby businesses including CABS Bank and Teachers Hardware.
