How have you been?

I have been OK…. a bit pressurized by the amount of work I need to put in so that I keep growing

You have been making a wave of late how do you feel about the attention fans are giving you now

I feel appreciated, which is something I longed for a long time when I was making music and getting no recognition. Now that I have the people’s attention, I feel like I have it I have to push more and make the most of it

How long have you been doing music?

since 2016

How many albums/ awards do you have to date?

No album no award yet but I have two Eps, Power Moves and Mayhem and Melodies

Which school did Volts attend?

Primary School: Fungisai Primary in Chitungwiza

High school: Sanyati Baptist High in Sanyati Kadoma

Tertiary At University of Zimbabwe

*You had a project with Holy Ten how was it like working with him

Holy Ten is one of the best rappers in Zim hence working with him gave me a chance to push myself to the limits and perform more.

You have a project with Poptain when is it going to be released?

System ft Poptain will be released on 20 October. It was supposed to be released sooner but our plan was disrupted by technical setbacks.

Besides music what else are you into?

Besides music I’m a chess player, my skills are a lot less sharp now but I still got it and I am also an engineering student

What can you say about the current state of the Zimbabwean music industry?

The Zimbabwean music industry, like any other industry in Zimbabwe, is as slow and less lucrative as it is supposed to be, but things are slowly changing and the industry is improving a lot. Soon enough, Zimbabwean artists won’t be quitting music because of financial problems anymore.

If you were to try another genre which genre, would you have gone for?

I’d go for Afrobeat, at some point Rema was my favourite artist and I was getting tempted to try afrobeat too.

There are several artists making waves locally who do you think deserves to get an ear?

The country needs to listen to R Peels, Tanto wavie, Beav City, Brownxin and The Bees. Not because they are all from Chitungwiza where I’m from but because I believe they have so much good music to offer if they are given a chance.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

In 5 years hopefully, I’d have achieved a lot enough to gain myself global recognition.

If you were to collaborate with any artist today who would be locally and internationally?

Locally, as impossible as it seems, it would be Winky D… Internationally, Burna Boy

Besides your project with Pop what other solo projects or collaborative projects do you have?

I have a lot of projects coming up. After the Poptain features, I’ll be maximizing on solos and fewer features

Is Volts taken?

No Voltz is not taken.

*How supportive is your family towards your musical career?

My family has been very supportive lately, at first, they used to doubt the whole music thing but I guess now they see some light at the end of the tunnel.

*Any words to your fans out there

Word for the fans. I love and appreciate each and every one of you. Please keep supporting the boy, there wouldn’t be a Voltz JT without you all. Special shoutouts to Zimcelebs, mulanation, Dir Leoy V and the team and my management.
